Pamela Love's "Ocean Toys" body, or at least something like it, was used before in the eighties, when similar dolls were sold by Debenhams (Sarah Louise), Siso (nameless ballerina) and Zodiac Toys (Judy). I have found loads of those on eBay and flee markets, but I can't quite figure out which is which, because they all seem to have the same face and their heads may have switched bodies. The face looks a bit like vintage Sindy's face, don't you think?
These dolls come with different markings on their backs: 'Made in Hong Kong', 'Made exclusively for Debenhams', or no marking at all, but the most striking is the version with the 'Ocean Toys' stamp and the number 65163, since this is the same number that was used for Pamela Love's body type number 2. The essential difference is though, that on the old dolls with this body type, the limbs were attached to the body on the inside with elastics. The Pamela Love version using this body type is much more solid.
Also, you'll hardly find these dolls with their butts still on their bodies: for some reason the buggers fall off quite easily!
